T Shirt Quilt-- completed top

As I expected, the T shirt quilt top was completed quickly once I had a little time to really focus on it.

Remember, this is a sample quilt-- it's not actually for sale.  So I purposely made it kind of long and skinny for easy display when I'm at a market (the size of this one is about 34 x 52").  I'm planning on draping it over a corner of the grid shelves that are in front of my display, with a sign saying something like  "Custom T-shirt Art Quilts Now Available" or something like that.  (See this post for details about my market display).

Yo-yo flowers with rick-rack stems.  The flower on the right is a pretty dark blue calico, sorry for the muddy picture.
I attached the yo-yo's with invisible thread, and used a wide zig zag stitch around the edges.  It's a neat effect--with the edges sewn down like that, the middle really pops up, so it's very dimensional.

The wide rick rack I treated as an applique, with a little fusible web to hold it in place, then a zig zag stitch on both sides.  I attached it before adding the borders, so the raw edge of the rick rack got tucked into the seam allowance once I sewed the borders on.

The music fabric was so cute on this yo-yo that I attached it upside down so it could really be seen.  It also really pops up high due to the zig zag stitch around the edge.  It feels interesting to the touch, too, like a little pin cushion!

Little applique flowers with button centers.

Button accents

No extra embellishment on this one, just a lot of fun fabric.  And who says you can only use 1 T-shirt per block?

I'm planning on basting this tomorrow and I'm looking forward to quilting it and experimenting with some really interesting quilting motifs-- we'll see what I come up with!
