Weekend Update

I'm happy to report that all of my adventures this past weekend turned out really well.

First things first:  Holizaar IV, my first indoor, All Handmade show and sale, held on Saturday in downtown St. Petersburg.  I was pretty nervous about this, as it was the first event of it's kind that I've done.  But it was really fun.

As you can see, I was given an 8' table that was against the wall.  I was lucky to be in front of a window:  the venue has what I would consider to be "art gallery" style lighting, and is a little dim.

You can on the right see how I draped the quilts over one of my 4' tables.  This was an adequate setup but not ideal.  But, given the space that I was given, I'm not sure there was a better solution.

The event organizers were kind enough to give me an end spot with room enough to arrange my grid walls off to one side. I could hang all of my placemats, office lunch sets, and stockings.

On the right you can see the tripod clothes hanger, which worked really well for table runners and extra selvage bath mats.  I was able to display everything I brought, once I got there and figured it all out!

The customers were for the most part an extremely artsy, younger crowd, and they really loved the selvage ornaments.

A few of the other vendors:

Gorgeous pottery!

Loved the suitcase full of little pillows.

The cutest little crochet toys.

There was also really nice jewelry, salsas, puppets, photography, clothing, scarves-- a very diverse mix of vendors.  Everything was nice quality while still being a little funky and offbeat.  I did think that my upcycled selvage items fit in particularly well there.

There were about 24 vendors in all, so it was a pretty small show, with all of the vendors in one big room.  There was a lot of foot traffic and at times was extremely busy.  I had 11 sales, which is a new record for me at a single event, so I was really happy with how everything turned out.

The rest of the weekend:  I played orchestra concerts Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evening.  Mozart Piano Concerto, Bruckner 3rd symphony (read the review here).  Also on Sunday was the Hyde Park Market, which has been a wonderful venue for me but was just a little slow on Sunday.  I was a little surprised at this, seeing how close it is to Christmas and it was a really beautiful day to be outside at the market!  Well, it wasn't terrible or anything but I guess I was expecting a busier day there.

So, after 2 markets and 3 orchestra concerts in one weekend, I'm a little tired today!  But it was a great weekend.
