Progress

Even if you only have 20 minutes, sit down and do a little sewing.  Following those words has helped me complete the top of the custom table runner for an Etsy customer, despite a hectic rehearsal and concert schedule this week.

You'll recall from this post that the customer contacted me about making her a table runner out of Joel Dewberry's Heirloom collection, in the same pattern as a table runner in my Etsy store (this one).

Beautiful fabric makes projects like this a lot of fun!

Since the front is a lot of little pieces, I thought the largest scale print from the collection would be a  nice contrast on the back, paired with a yellow and white floral.

I usually baste table runners on my work table.  But this one is a whopping 75" long, so I decided to baste it on the floor.

I think this is also too long to comfortably turn and topstitch for finishing, so this will also get a white binding.

Now on to the quilting!

  2. Pretty colors. Such a long table runner means the table must be very long indeed. Hope to see how you quilt it.

  4. Love the fabrics and your choice for the backing, looking forward to seeing it finished. Someone told me a few months ago that I should try to quilt for 15 minutes every day and that I'd be amazed how much I'd get through. So far I've always ended up doing more because I lose track of time the moment I get started but here you've proved her advice right - great stuff.
