End of Summer Basting

My long, long summer off from orchestra work is coming to a close.  The season starts with rehearsals on Wednesday followed by the first weekend of concerts.

Adams: Lollapalooza
Beethoven: Piano Concerto No. 1
Rachmaninoff: Symphonic Dances, Op. 45
Adams’ music opens this concert with a sense of fun and playful rhythms.  Beethoven then brings together the piano and orchestra in a sonic tapestry of drama, passion and graceful crystalline melodies.  The evening concludes with Rachmaninoff’s lush themes bathed in rich and expansive orchestral colors.

I think my 27th season with The Florida Orchestra will be off to an exciting start!

Quilting-wise, I've been trying to tie up as many loose ends as possible, including a custom T shirt quilt.

I basted this quilt a few days ago.

It's for Carson's brother. (Carson was the recipient of this quilt last winter).

It's a double bed size quilt, measuring about 80 x 90".

And I am newly In Love with Plaid, thanks to that bright and modern print from Michael Miller fabrics (from the "Going Coastal" collection).

I agree!

  1. Did we ever cross paths? I was a parent volunteer for the Tampa Bay Youth Orchestra for 14 years. We had numerous orchestra members who did sectionals. Did you ever work with the YO from 1993 - 2007?

  2. Small world, isn't it? I wasn't involved with the sectionals but if you were at a Side By Side concert (the ones where the students and professionals play on stage together) then I certainly would have been there. Hope your kids enjoyed their musical training and thanks for your support of the arts in our community!
