A Lightbulb Moment

I really love it when the Big Project Lightbulb goes off in my head, and all of a sudden there's a great project staring me in the face.

I mentioned in this post back in December that a friend has commissioned a quilt made from her husband's striped work shirts (he's retiring and won't need them anymore!).  I wrote at the time that I was terribly excited about this project but not quite certain how to proceed with it.

Then, about a month later, I was raving about the
Scrappy Trip Along quilt that has absolutely taken the quilt world by storm, and how I was dying to try it for myself (see this post for more pictures and a link to the pattern).

Then, a few nights ago, I jerked awake at about 4 a.m. and knew The Answer:

yes

OF COURSE

I made a test block today, just to make sure it was as good an idea in Real Life as it was in my head at 4 a.m.

I like it!  And by adding in some of my own fabrics I'll be able to add a lot of visual excitement and contrast to the blocks.  Hooray!

  4. Hi, Linda. Since I use mostly used clothing in my work, I really like your block. The colors are pleasing together and subtle at the same time. This will make a lovely quilt. Happy quilting!
